All members give Tzedaka one time. Share with us who you gave to. Everyone benefits.

The Timing

Each member submits both their D'var Torah and Tzedaka on the same day. 40 days of Tefilla, Teshuva, and Tzedaka. Everyone benefits.

Our program relies on you. Each member sustains a daily schedule.

1. MEN'S ELUL CHAVURA page:

Navigate through the site from the Home page, see explanations and instructions how the program works, read answers to common questions, invite others to join, and enjoy comments from other participants.

2. TEHILLIM page:

(Section 1) Calendar shows when each member's D'var Torah and Tzedaka are due.

(Section 2) View and print your personal Tehillim Track schedule for all 40-days.

(Section 3) Sefer Tehillim (150 perakim) broken down to 40 daily portions for the program.

(Reader) Sefer Tehillim available for you to recite from the website.

3. MEMBERS page:

List of all participants in the program including each man's Hebrew name, his parents' Hebrew names (to daven for him), where he resides, the day his D'var Torah and Tzedaka are due, and his individual Tehillim Track schedule.

4. D'VAR TORAHS page:

Submit your D'var Torah any time before the due date.

Once approved by an Administrator your D'var will post and be viewable on its due date.

5. COMMUNITY BOARD page:

Post comments, share insights, communicate with fellow members.

6. DEDICATE page:

You can dedicate any part of the Tehillim recited, D'var Torahs sent, and/or Tzedaka given in the memory of or honor of someone of your choosing.

We are not the original developers of this program. There is a women's program that runs simultaneously and when we learned about it years ago, we felt it would benefit men to have the same opportunity.

The program is based on Jewish sources that tell us that Moshe Rebbeinu ascended Mount Sinai on Rosh Chodesh Elul to receive the 2nd set of stone tablets (luchos) after the 1st set were destroyed by Moshe following the sin of the Golden Calf (Cheit ha'Eigel). He remained on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, coming down on Yom Kippur when Gd granted complete forgiveness to the Jewish people. Since Gd showed supreme mercy and accepted repentence during those original 40 days, the corresponding 40-day span on the annual calendar became established as Yemei Ratzon (Days of Favor) and a propitious time for Teshuva (return and repentance).

In the high holiday Machzor we learn that 'Tefilla, Teshuva, Tzedaka tear up an evil decree.' For this program, Tefilla = Tehillim, Teshuva = D'var Torah, and Tzedaka = Tzedaka.

Absolutely! The Chavura welcomes Jewish men of all backgrounds. Ask questions and be supported through the whole journey.

Program begins for everyone on Rosh Chodesh Elul (Alef) and ends on Yom Kippur.

This year (5786/87 — 2026) we start on Thu, Aug 13 and end on Mon, Sept 21.

This depends on the individual. The main requirement daily is to recite the Tehillim chapters on your personal schedule. This can average approximately 5-7 minutes. Reading D'var Torahs is done at your own pace.

All members are assigned a personal Tehillim Track Schedule. Everyone begins reciting their Tehillim schedule on Rosh Chodesh Elul (Alef) and continues daily until Yom Kippur. Each person will complete their rotation of sefer Tehillim at that time and collectively sefer Tehillim is completed daily.

This is a personal choice. You are welcome to recite Tehillim in any language you are comfortable with. For further guidance we encourage you to speak with your LOR.

We are not particular about this (Hebrew vs. secular calendar). The aim of the program is for each person to complete their daily Tehillim assignment so the sefer is completed collectively each day.

No. You start from the portion you are assigned to by Tehillim Track and then progress each day to a new portion. Your personal schedule is listed on your Tehillim Track sheet.
